HIS POV

"You wouldn't be saying this if you knew the truth," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Izel," I breathed, reaching for her, my fingers curling gently around her wrist as I pulled her back toward me.

I cupped her face between my palms, my thumbs brushing away the raindrops or maybe they were tears, I couldn't tell.

"Izel," I said firmly, my voice thick with emotion. "I don't care what it is. Whatever you're hiding..." I pressed my forehead against hers, my breath uneven as I murmured,

"Mujhe tumhari har cheez manzoor hai... Tumhari har khushi, tumhara har gham... Sab manzoor hai. Tum manzoor ho. Irfaz Ahmed ko"

" You're not alone, jaan... not anymore," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. "Har kadam pe sath dene ko taiyar hu... sahi ho chahe galat... bas tum khush raho, bus yahi chahta hoon."

Her eyes, wide and brimming with a storm of unshed tears, finally met mine. A sigh escaped her lips, her eyes glistening with something raw, something too deep to name.

"You wouldn't say that if you knew the truth," she said, her voice laced with a bitter kind of sorrow.

"Izel ...You think I'd stop caring if I knew?" My voice was rough with emotion. "That I'd turn away from you?"

I began, but she wrenched herself free from my grasp, taking a step back, she pushed at my chest, her body trembling as a broken laugh escaped her.

"You wouldn't accept me either," she whispered, her eyes glossy with unshed tears. "If you knew that I had someone's blood on my hands... If you knew what I did, you'd call me a monster too."

"You'd see me the way everyone else does...a murderer. A killer."

"Listen, bacha," I murmured, my voice firm yet gentle as I pulled her toward me.

She didn't resist this time, but she was still tense.

Stiff.

On the verge of breaking apart in my arms.

"Chhodo mujhe," she whispered, her hands weakly pressing against my arm.

I didn't let go.

"Nahi," I said, my grip tightening. "Main kahin nahi jaane dunga tumhe."

I didn't care anything.

All I cared about was the girl trembling in my arms, drowning in a storm that had nothing to do with the rain.

"Izel," I whispered, my voice breaking. "Tum ho. Tum zinda ho shi salamat ho. Aur tum mere saath ho."

Her breath hitched. She clutched the fabric of my soaked shirt as if holding onto me was the only thing keeping her from falling apart.

"Let's go home first, we'll talk about this there. I promise I'll listen to every word of yours with all my heart. But for now, come on," I said.

She refused to go with me again.

"Jaan, aise zid nahi karte... Baarish mein bheegne se bimar pad jaoge," I said, my voice a mix of concern and gentle scolding.

She looked at me like a baby, her eyes holding the kind of innocence that could make anyone give in to her wishes.

My patience wore out.

Without another word, I picked her up and carried her to the car. Turning on the heater, I let the warmth chase away the chill clinging to her. Without wasting any more time, I drove straight to the nearest hotel.

On my way, I called Zayn.

"Haan bhai, bhabhi mili?" he asked.

"Mil gayi, batana bhool gaya tha," I said.

"Achi baat hai yeh toh phir," he chuckled.

"Acha sun... mujhe Izel ke liye kapde la de," I said.

"Kya laun?" he asked.

"Oversized t-shirt aur pajama Izel ke liye. Location bhejta hoon tujhe," I replied and ended the call.

As soon as I reached the hotel, I parked the car and stepped out, quickly moving to her side. She was still shivering, her damp hair clinging to her face, eyes lowered. I opened the door and helped her out, my grip firm yet gentle.

The hotel lobby was warm, a relief from the cold rain outside. I walked up to the reception and booked a room without hesitation. She stood beside me, silent, her arms wrapped around herself.call.

Once inside the room, I walked into the bathroom and turned on the tap, letting the hot water fill the tub. Steam slowly rose, warming up the cold air. Turning back to her, I leaned against the doorframe.

"Wash up first," I said, my voice calm but firm. "You need to warm up."

She hesitated, her eyes searching mine.

"I'm fine," she mumbled stubbornly.

I let out a slow breath, trying to keep my patience intact.

"Izel, please," I said, my voice softer this time. "Just listen to me for once."

After a brief pause, she finally took the towel and walked toward the bathroom.

"I'll be outside," I added, sensing her hesitation. "Take your time."

With that, I stepped out, shutting the door behind me. Running a hand through my hair, I let out a deep breath and walked toward the window, staring at the rain that was still pouring outside.

I pulled out my phone to check Zayn's location. Hopefully, he'd be here soon with her clothes.

-----

Twenty minutes later,

Zayn arrived with the clothes and some food. He handed me the bag, his usual smirk replaced with a knowing look.

"Yeh lo, kapde aur khana," he said, glancing around. "Bhabhi theek hai?"

I nodded. "Haan"

He patted my shoulder. "Tu bhi sambhal apne aap ko."

With that, he left, giving me space.

I set the bag down and sat on the edge of the bed, my mind replaying the night's events. The rain, her stubbornness, the way she looked at me like she was carrying a weight too heavy for her small body

I had no idea what she had been through. What kind of pain had settled deep in her heart. But one thing I knew no, not just knew, I was confident.

I wouldn't let her slip through my fingers.

Not now.

Not ever.

She came out of the bathroom, her damp hair falling over her shoulders, looking exhausted yet lost in thought.

Without a word, I handed her the clothes Zayn had brought and walked past her to freshen up myself.

The warm water did little to clear my head, but at least it washed away the cold. Wrapping a bathrobe around me, I stepped out of the bathroom, running a towel through my hair only to stop in my tracks.

She was sitting on the bed, fully dressed, hugging herself. The room was dark, the only light coming from the faint glow outside. She had switched off everything, as if trying to hide within the darkness.

My chest tightened at the sight.

I walked closer, keeping my voice soft.

"Izel?"

Still nothing.

Without another word, I sat beside her on the bed.

For a moment, I didn't say anything just let the quiet stretch between us. Then, slowly, I reached out and switched on the bedside lamp, casting a warm glow around us.

She flinched slightly but didn't protest.

"You don't have to talk. But you're not alone. Not anymore " I murmured, noticing how she was still shivering. I grabbed the blanket and draped it over her shoulders. "You should eat something."

She shook her head, her grip on herself tightening.

I exhaled, rubbing my temple.

"Fine," I muttered. "If you won't talk or eat, then at least stop freezing yourself."

Without waiting for her permission, I shifted closer and pulled the blanket over both of us. Then, gently, I took her in front of me, wrapping my arms around her from behind, letting my warmth seep into her cold body. She tensed for a moment but didn't pull away.

"I'm not going anywhere," I said firmly. "And neither are you."

I stayed there in silence, holding her, feeling the way her breathing slowly evened out. The rain outside had slowed to a soft drizzle, the distant hum of the city the only sound filling the room.

And then, in a barely audible whisper, she spoke.

"Irfaz..."

"Here I am bacha"
